As a stay at home mom, you have a million things to do in any given day. This is a 24 hour contract, not a job with a start and end time!
However, that doesn’t mean you can’t try a side hustle or two to make a little extra income and keep you feeling good along the way.
The beauty of the side hustle is that it takes very little time to get it up and running, and even less time to keep it going once you’ve got it going. These more time-consuming endeavors are also enjoyable. The time spent is both enjoyable and gives you a sense of independence.
It’s your business! You are rocking life as a mom and business woman.
However, before you get to that point, you should do some research on these unique side hustles that will give you a boost in both life and money.

Side hustle ideas for stay at home moms (and dads).
Side hustles are a great way to generate recurring income. If you want to be home and spend the day with your little one, you can always start a side hustle so you don’t have to go back to work.
I know several stay-at-home moms who make full-time incomes from side hustles. Some even make 6 figures! Regardless, you can start your career with a side hustle.
If you’re a stay-at-home dad, all of this applies to you, too. I’m a dad and I’m multi-tasking right now.
Let’s start with the first side hustle!
Start a Blog
Blogging is one of the most creative aspects. You might think so set up a blog and maintaining it sounds like hard work, but it’s a labor of love in many ways, and the work it requires is endless. All you have to do is pick a topic or niche you like and it won’t even feel like work!
Once you’re up and running and building a regular following, you can start monetizing your blog through advertising, affiliate marketing, or even creating your own products.
- The partner is coming. Simply put, affiliate income is when you link to a product sold on another site (such as Amazon). If someone clicks on your link and buys that product from Amazon, you earn a commission on that sale.
- Advertising networks. Ad networks pay you when you display their ads on your blog. This can be in the sidebar, at the beginning of the blog post, or anywhere else on your blog (where you decide is up to you).
- Sponsored content. It can be articles, pins, emails… It’s very common for bloggers to get paid for sponsored posts. You can get paid to review a product related to your niche.
- Sell e-books.
- Sell courses and printed materials. The course is similar to an e-book, but usually there are videos and exercises. It is very common for a blogger to offer a course at a certain price (eg $97) and then offer a reduced version of the course as an e-book for a lower price (eg $27).

Learn English online
The best thing about teaching English online is that you don’t always have to have qualifications to do it. Some companies will accept you as long as you are a native English speaker and have a good general education.
Then, you plan your lessons according to your time. Each lesson usually lasts between 30 minutes and an hour, and you take them via Skype or Zoom. The company also provides you with lesson plans, so it’s up to you to present it in a fun and engaging way.
One of the most popular platforms at the moment VIPKID. With over 600,000 students and paying up to $25 an hour, I’m not surprised they’re getting this kind of education. Featured in Forbes as one of the best places to work online.
The only requirement of VipKid is that it requires a university degree, so it may not be for everyone.
Free Proofread or Write
If you’re creative, how about freelancing as a writer or proofreader? This means that you will write for a variety of clients, usually e-books, articles or blog posts. You are then billed by the hour or billed per project for the work you do. The same goes for proofreading.
When you work as a freelancer, you will need to build your reputation and bid for work as the competition is fierce. But once you’ve established a good reputation, you’ll find that customers keep coming back to you.

While you sit back, chill, grab your phone or laptop and give your opinion on a few different topics, earning money as you go. There are survey companies that will pay you various amounts for your opinion, and the more you do, the more you earn.

Freelance work as a translator
If you’re bilingual… did you know there’s a $40 billion market waiting for you to start a side hustle?
If you know more than one language, you can make quite a bit of money doing it. You can either translate oral communication from a note, or you can translate written documents.
Again, you’ll need to register as a sole proprietor and pay taxes when freelancing, but it’s certainly a way to earn income using your skills at home.
Have Regular Clearings
If you don’t want to do the regular work, but want to get more occasional deals, making occasional or regular appearances and selling what you have on eBay is a great way to make some cash and make your home easier!
Get in that garage and clear it out, clean out your Spring wardrobe and whatever you find, list it on eBay and watch the bids come in.
One Last Thing To Remember About Side Hustle Ideas For Moms
Side hustles are amazing and have great potential. Whichever way you go, make sure you stick with it for at least a few weeks until you see it working for you.
You can start more than one at a time, but don’t try to cover everything or you might burn yourself out.
I would suggest trying for the list above start your own blogwhich requires little investment and opens many opportunities for your career.
But if investing is a problem for you, I recommend it conducts online surveys to get the initial money until you are able to launch your blog.
