We live in expensive times, so if you can make extra money with zero capital to invest and a little time and effort, why not try?
It sounds like it belongs in a unicorn story, but it actually does more than you think. Coming up with passive income ideas without money requires some thinking outside the box.
I still remember dreaming (before I started PIW) about passive income and how my life would change if I could make it work. In fact, this was one of the motivations for starting this website. you can do read my story here.
A few years later, today I can say that my life has changed… and a lot! I went from running a small business (and struggling to pay my bills) to buying a 3 story house, getting married, traveling the world, and starting a family!
Admittedly, I couldn’t have done it without passive income.
To show you how possible this can be, let’s take a look at 5 ideas you might want to try for yourself.
Passive income ideas without money
If you’re tight on cash or just don’t want to invest anything up front, these 5 passive income ideas are for you.
You don’t need any money to start a passive income business. It is true that an initial investment can help speed up the process, but it is not a requirement.
You can always make up for it with extra work or a clever idea!
Create a Digital Product to Sell
This idea takes a little work at first, but then it mostly rolls out on its own.
Can you write an informational guide, course or e-book? If you are an expert in a certain field, you can make it and then sell it online. Basically you have a product that you sell constantly and as a result you make money pretty quickly.
For example, if you create an online course and get enough interest, you could earn a few thousand pounds if it’s good!
Of course it depends on how many people buy it, but if it’s high quality and you’ve chosen your niche, you’re looking at a real money spinner to ensure it’s in demand. This is one of the best passive income ideas in terms of potential earnings.
Self-published eBooks
How about going from a digital product idea to becoming a bestselling author?
We all know that writing and publishing a book is extremely difficult, but self-publishing has opened the door for anyone who has the time and patience to write their own book. It can be fiction, non-fiction, whatever you want.
Amazon’s KDP software, Kindle Direct Publishing, is easy to work with and helps guide you through the process of formatting, creating a cover, and getting it published. It’s free to do and you get royalties based on the number of books you sell.
Of course, Amazon takes a cut of that, but for a book from $2.99 to $9.99, you get 70% of the royalties made. Not bad! Or you can sell it directly on your blog and get all the profit yourself.
Although publishing a book can be quite difficult, self-publishing and selling on Amazon’s KDP program is a simpler option.
If you want to earn passive income by selling ebooks but don’t know where to start, you can sign up. Ebook Bestseller Bootcampstep-by-step signature video course and learn how to write, launch and sell your first (or next) best-selling eBook!
Below is a picture of how much Ana (the creator of the course) earned in the first month after publishing her first eBook. Impressive! You could too.

Disclosure: This course it costs money ($147), but you don’t really need it to self-publish an ebook.
Passive Income Sales Photos
If you love to shoot on your phone or professional camera, you can sell your photos on a stock exchange website and earn money for it.
For those who have always taken photos, this is a great way to earn money with zero effort and of course zero money. Your photos need to be high quality, but it can be fun and you can learn as you go.
There are countless sites you can use and they will give you different prices for your photos, so be sure to shop around and find the one or ones that are right for you.
Of course, a stock image is purchased multiple times by different people, so each time someone buys it, you’ll continue to earn a commission for it!
Have your say on the polls
Picture the scene – it’s winter, it’s cold, you don’t want to go outside and you’re bored at home. Why not grab your phone or laptop and take a few surveys?
You can earn money doing these things, so you’ll get paid to tick a few boxes and tell people what you think. Of course, you will have to do quite a bit of work to earn a significant amount of money, but some surveys pay more than others, so it’s just a matter of finding the right sites to use.
My latest favorite survey sites American Consumer Opinion and Swagbucks. You should try them.
Most survey sites pay after earning a certain amount, while some pay monthly. Decide which one is best for you and go with the site that gives you what you need.
you can check Top 100 survey sites list.
Have a great Clear Out
When was the last time you completely cleaned your house and got rid of all the junk you’ve accumulated? You probably have more clothes in your closet than you need, and your garage is full of stuff that never sees the light of day.
Cleaning them up and listing them on eBay is a great idea! You can make money as well as make money. If you find that you have good success with this, you can be an eBay seller for a long time.
This means looking for items to sell in charity shops or car boot sales, or buying items cheap online and then selling them for a profit. It’s a great way to pass the time and one of the best passive income ideas without money.
While these five ideas won’t make you a millionaire, they can help fill your bank account with a little more cash than you currently have. There are countless passive income ideas without money, and it really means being creative and thinking innovatively.
Passive income ideas with little money
If you are willing to invest a small amount of money, the opportunities to earn money are multiplied. You can start your own blog for less than the cost of a Starbucks coffee.
But let’s dig deeper into them.
Start a Passive Income Blog
Below are some reasons why starting a blog could be the best thing you can do in 2020.
Flexibility – There is no limit to blogging. You can work when you want, pick up your children from school at the most convenient time and take as many breaks as you want. Flexibility is something I value a lot, and blogging provides that.
You are your own head – Who wouldn’t want to be their own boss? Ever since I started my blog, I’ve had my own business. I’ve worked for companies all my life, but since I started blogging, I’m more motivated than ever. My blog is my company and I don’t mind putting extra effort into it. It’s a great feeling of accomplishment!
This is an asset -The moment you launch your blog, it has a value in the market (like a property). The more work you put into your blog, the more valuable it will be. You can always sell your blog on one of the hundreds of platforms on the internet. I would never sell my blog, but if one day I really need the money, I know I have an asset worth the money.
You can blog from anywhere – My wife and I travel to a different country every month (we want to travel as much as we can before having children). Imagine if we also blog during our travels. You can live anywhere in the world and still manage your blog. I have friends who blog from all over the world from places like Australia, France, South Korea, Italy.
It makes you money – This is the main reason why I love blogging so much. By owning your own blog, you have the potential to make a lot of money (I’m talking four figures a month). After six months of blogging part-time, I’m making over $1,500. Imagine what could happen if you worked full-time for more than a year.
In my case, I was able to generate a good passive income stream (in the 5 figure range) thanks to this blog.
If you want to start a blog but don’t know how, I created one A step-by-step guide on how to start a blog with WordPress.

Affiliate Marketing
You don’t actually need any money to earn passive income from Affiliate Marketing. But I listed it here because it was recommended to have a blog first.
Did you know you can start earning passive income with affiliate marketing? In fact, last month I made $1,200 in passive income just from my affiliate marketing.
The truth is that many other bloggers earn the same or more through affiliate marketing. Michelle is an example. He earns more than $100,000 per month from his blog. I actually learned how to make money blogging his course.
Taking his course was an investment, but it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.
If I could do even a fraction of what he made, the course would pay for itself. And it happened! In less than a week! And so I went from $302.58 to $1023.18 in less than 3 months.
You can read my post about it here I tripled my affiliate income blogging.
Rent with Airbnb
This is another semi-passive income. Airbnb has become increasingly popular recently, and some people are even making a full-time income from it.
Do you have a spare room at home that you never use? you can do Become an Airbnb host and earn some semi-passive income. The reason I said halfbecause you will have to do some maintenance (washing bed sheets and vacuuming the floor).
However, if you want to make it 100% passive, you can automate the process.

Something to Remember About Free Passive Income Ideas
Once many people set up a passive income method, it takes care of itself. This is certainly the case for digital products and e-books. Once the original piece of work is done and edited, you just go ahead and sell it and watch the cash flow.
Online courses are definitely in demand in the educational environment we live in, and since many people don’t have time to attend night classes, online courses are a great way to learn new skills and knowledge while maintaining regular employment and performing all the duties you need in your regular job.
Whichever passive income method you choose, let those dollars (or pounds) accumulate in your bank account and use them for something great, or at least useful!
