How InboxDollars works
InboxDollars is a rewards platform that allows users to earn money by completing one of several different tasks.
Queries
The first way to earn money with InboxDollars is to participate in surveys.
Like many other survey sites, InboxDollars starts users with a profile survey that includes age, gender, and other basics. The Platform will use this information to match you with relevant requests.
When you view potential surveys, InboxDollars will show you the reward associated with each option and the time it will take you to complete each one.
Remember that if you provide false answers or complete the survey as soon as possible, you may lose your rewards or eligibility for future surveys.
Videos
InboxDollars also offers small rewards for watching specific videos.
When we looked at their website, it appeared that most of the videos cost only a cent or two, so this may not be a practical way to make any significant income.
Of course, some users may have access to videos that we cannot see.
While InboxDollars cannot prevent you from doing other things while the video is playing, you must keep the tab open the entire time.
In other words, you can’t just put the video in the background and earn rewards while doing something else on the same device.
Shopping
In addition, it offers a cashback service similar to platforms like InboxDollars Rakuten and Ibotta.
When you choose an offer from InboxDollars, you’ll be able to earn cash back by shopping at select retailers.
For example, we found 4% back on home decor at Home Depot, and 1% back on other qualifying purchases.
Remember to read the fine print when looking at InboxDollars offers.
While most home decor items qualify for this 4% rate, a few high-priced items are left out, including rugs, lighting and ceiling fans, outdoor furniture, blinds and window treatments.
If you shop in person, you can print coupons from InboxDollars and present them in store.
In addition to the savings from the coupons themselves, you’ll also receive an additional 20 cents per coupon return and one cent for each pair of coupons you print.
Finally, InboxDollars Magic Receipts app allows users to earn cash back by uploading receipts confirming the purchase of specific items.
We saw offers for $1 for a gallon of milk, two cents for bananas, and $3 for Soylent Singles. Walmart.
All of these InboxDollars shopping rewards can be combined with the benefits of a cash-back credit cardlets you get your cash back twice.
Offers
In addition to surveys, videos, cash back and coupons, InboxDollars offers a wide variety of other offers with unique requirements and rewards.
These offers often allow users to earn significantly more rewards than they can get from other tasks, but they can also be more complicated and expensive.
For example, we found an Uber Eats offer that gives new drivers a $200 bonus when they complete their first delivery.
Assuming you’re willing to provide your social security number and submit to a background check, you can earn over $200 per delivery.
Similarly, new Coinbase users can earn $25 in rewards by creating an account and trading at least $5 in cryptocurrencies.
As mentioned above, there are different types of offers available, so you may need some time to search for the most profitable options.
Scratch and Win
As you perform various actions on the InboxDollars website, you will gradually fill up a meter that will allow you to scratch a virtual card.
These requests apply to most InboxDollars activities, including Paid Emails, web searches, and games.
The meter increases by a variable amount with each new move, so it may take you more or less time to fill the bar each time.
Once you fill the meter to the first mark, you will have the opportunity to draw a card that can reward you with up to $10.
However, you can continue to fill the bar without drawing the first card.
The bar will continue to fill until it reaches the second mark (up to $25) and finally the third mark (up to $100).
Unfortunately, the website does not provide any details about the chances of each outcome, so the maximum prize has a very low probability compared to the lower value prizes.
Still, you’ll naturally fill up the meter when using InboxDollars, so there’s no reason not to scratch your card once you’ve maxed out.
Searches
Internet searches are the ultimate way to earn rewards through InboxDollars.
You can get cash back by simply entering relevant search queries into the InboxDollars search engine on their website.
These searches can help you increase your Scratch and Win meter, and if you do at least one search on four different days of that week, you’ll also receive a weekly bonus of five cents.
The Scratch and Win feature is particularly useful as you can keep building up the counter by entering more and more searches.
This makes scratch tickets more efficient than most other activities available on InboxDollars.
However, the InboxDollars search engine has several drawbacks.
First, there is no way to know in advance what constitutes a “qualified search.”
While we didn’t have any issues after testing eight different search terms, it’s impossible to predict what InboxDollars will or won’t factor into your rewards.
Second, the rewards are not very significant to begin with.
Even if you make a few searches each day, you’ll be limited to five cents a week plus whatever you earn from your calling cards.
Finally, you have to keep coming back to the InboxDollars site every time you want to search.
Some users will find it less convenient than more traditional search engines like Google or Bing.
Can I trust InboxDollars?
As with any other reputable rewards platform, the concern most users have with InboxDollars is whether or not it offers enough to make it worth their time.
The InboxDollars mobile app averages a 3.9 on Google Play and a 4.5 on iOS — not terrible, but not exactly call confirmation.
Based on our research, most of the criticisms leveled at InboxDollars are related to the low earning potential.
Some users are also unhappy with other concerns, such as a $30 minimum withdrawal, a $3 fee for withdrawals below $40, and trouble matching surveys.
The difference between Google Play and App Store rankings appears to be a result of technical issues being more common on Android than on iOS.
However, users on all platforms agree that InboxDollars pays as advertised as long as you meet their controversial Byzantine terms.
CotterWeb, the parent company of InboxDollars, was acquired by Prodege in 2019.
Prodege is a leading consumer rewards brand that operates other cashback and rewards platforms Swagbucks, MyPointsand Tada.
If you decide to sign up with InboxDollars, it’s important to understand that their business model involves extracting consumer data from their users and (legally) selling that data to interested parties.
However, we found no allegation that InboxDollars or Prodege engaged in any harmful or deceptive business practices other than complex reward terms and ethical issues related to data sales.
